美國時間周二在喬治亞州亞特蘭大接連發生三起槍擊案，造成八人喪命，其中六名死者為亞裔女性。案發後，警方逮捕了 21 歲的嫌疑犯羅伯特亞倫朗恩（Robert Aaron Long），隨後這名白人男子自稱有性癮，因抗拒不了才犯案。

儘管警方在調查後，表示兇手沒有鎖定「亞裔」下手的動機，但許多亞裔美國人早已人心惶惶，這不僅僅是因為此次的槍擊事件所致，而早在新冠肺炎疫情爆發後，在美國的亞裔族群就時常遭受異樣眼光，更被暴力相向。

根據「停止仇恨亞裔和太平洋島居民」（STOP AAPI HATE）組織的調查數據顯示，在 2020 年 3 月 19 日至 2021 年 2 月 28 日期間，至少發生了 3795 起鎖定亞裔族群進行攻擊的案件，而在今年僅過了兩個月就有超過 500 起的事件發生。

不少演藝圈明星在槍擊案發生後，紛紛在社群媒體上呼籲大眾停止對亞裔族群的仇恨，其中參演《艾蜜莉在巴黎》的韓裔女星艾希莉朴（Ashley Park ）就發布一段長達近六分鐘的影片，泛淚地述說亞裔民眾遭受到的無情對待。
